THE Gympie region man charged with bashing a 70-year-old man after trying to break into his Southside home has been refused bail in court.
‘I shouldn’t have been driving, it won’t happen again.’
Magistrate Chris Callaghan called Willan’s actions “very silly”, alluding to the possibility of jail time.
Police found the driver soon after, where he was crying and said he’d fled the scene because he was scared.
‘We try to portray a sentimental element with it, reminding everyone to get together once in a while and remember loved ones lost.’
“It is a surprise to get this much recognition but I’m getting better with it and learning to take them as they come.”
Lights remained on inside, but there was no sign of staff and phone calls to the Gympie Central Shopping Complex store went unanswered.
