Zonta offers women awards

GYMPIE'S young women have a chance to be recognised for their leadership skills in Zonta International's Young Women in Public Affairs awards.

The awards recognise commitment to leadership in public policy, government and volunteer organisations.

This year a young woman in her last year of secondary schooling will be chosen from the Gympie Region.

The successful applicant will receive $1000 over two years from the Zonta Club of Gympie to further their studies.

Students from 16-19 years, living or studying in the Gympie Region, are encouraged to apply.

Zonta International says young women are the key to women's advancement in the field of public service.

Applicants should demonstrate some evidence of experience in local or student government; knowledge of Zonta International and its programs, and be prepared to promote Zonta International's mission to advance the status of women worldwide.

Closing date for applications is October 14. Contact Jo Lockwood on 0408 881 256 for datails.
