Youths and man, 61, nabbed in alleged looting attempts

TWO male juveniles will be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act after they were found attempting to gain entry into a washed-up boat at Bargara last night.

At approximately 9.40pm, the Police Helicopter Polair was patrolling the Baraga waterfront when they saw the boys on the boat, trying to gain entry to the main cabin.

The Polair crew kept them under surveillance while waiting for police to attend.

When police arrived the two boys attempted to run, but were caught a short distance away and found with items of alleged stolen marine equipment from a previous entry to another vessel.

Meanwhile, a 61-year-old Millbank man has been charged with stealing by looting after police intercepted a vehicle on Woongarra St, Bundaberg, last night.

At 10.45pm, police noticed a station wagon travelling through a flood affected area of the CBD with an alleged stolen refrigerator in the rear.

It is alleged the property was stolen from a Walla St business.

The man will appear in Bundaberg Magistrates Court on March 4.
