Is your laptop a fire hazard?

OWNERS of Toshiba laptops are being encouraged to go online and check their serial numbers as a recall states the machine's batteries may overheat and cause fires.

The faulty batteries were sold between June 2011 and September 2015 and are in  Portégé, Satellite, Satellite Pro and Tecra laptop models.

Owners of Toshiba laptops are being encouraged to go to www.mytoshiba.com.au/support/announcements and check if their machine is affected.

And if you own a Toshiba laptop and have previously established your battery was not at risk - the same recall went out in January this year the ACCC is stating you should go through the process again.

"Users who previously checked and determined that their battery pack was not affected by the January 2016 recall should re-check their battery packs using the software available from the Toshiba website," the ACCC's product recall states.
