You know that Christmas spirit? These two are showing it

Brother and sister Joel and Jordyn Archer are going to visit seniors and hospitals on Christmas Eve and homeless on Christmas Day.

JOEL Archer does not just say "Merry Christmas", he means it, and is going out of his way to make sure people feel it.

Joel, 25, and his sister, Jordyn, 20, are organising Christmas Eve and Christmas Day visits to elderly people, hospital patients, and the homeless on the Sunshine Coast.

He said Christmas was the saddest and loneliest time of year for some people who were isolated by geography or circumstance.

"One woman last year prepared a whole Christmas dinner in the hope that somebody would come, and nobody came," he said.

Joel, who screens classic movies at Queensland aged care facilities with his business, Golden Oldies, and also runs barbecues for the homeless at Cotton Tree and Bli Bli, visited about 20 people on Christmas Day last year.

He is joined this year by his big-hearted little sister Jordyn, who has an interest in fighting global poverty.

With a team of supporters, they hope to give the gift of happiness to about 60 or 70 people this year.

Jordyn is coordinating Christmas Eve visits to aged care residents and hospital patients while Joel is in charge of the Christmas Day cheer for the homeless folk at Caloundra, Kawana, Maroochydore and Nambour.

"We want to do what we can with our service and friends and volunteers. We want to do good," he said.

Experience has taught Joel that actions can speak louder than words and he said sometimes just a smile, or offering a plate of food to someone before yourself, could make a difference.

A Sunshine Coast business has backed the team's Christmas efforts by supplying chocolates as gifts.
