Grand Theft Auto 5 night ends up being theft by screwdriver

FOUR Gracemere lads became the main players in their own action adventure on Friday night when an intruder burst into their house and ended up threatening them with a screwdriver.

Two housemates and two of their friends were sitting on the lounge, engrossed in a game of Grand Theft Auto 5 on the Xbox, when the stranger swept past them and made for the kitchen.

The man, aged in his early 20s, started stuffing his pockets with goods from the kitchen bench.

"We were amazed," one of the housemates said. "It took us a while to process just what was going on."

The four then stood up to confront the intruder. "That's when he grabbed the screwdriver from the bench," the housemate said. "He started waving it at us, saying something like: 'You'd better make the hits count because I've got the screwdriver'. We all backed off because none of us wanted to cop a screwdriver."

Despite the mounting tension, the housemate had the foresight to take a photo of the man on his iPhone before he fled.

"We're lucky things ended the way they did,'' the housemate said. A police spokesman said a man had been arrested and charged in relation to the incident.
