Wounded Jason now in London
RAINBOW Beach shooting victim Jason Montgomery is still fighting for his life, but with much better chances after a risky but life-saving emergency flight to London, his mother Sandy Brosnan said yesterday.
“He’s got multiple clots on his lungs and legs and he’s on about three different types of antibiotics as well as blood-thinning drugs.
“It was touch and go to get him back to London. They nearly lost him.”
Jason was shot without provocation in a robbery last month as he enjoyed after-work drinks near his residence in the troubled South American nation of Guyana.
“We’ve got no way of knowing when he’ll be well enough to come home,” Ms Brosnan said.
“The paramedics who got him out of Guyana said he was pretty bad, but they took the risk of flying him out, thankfully. If they hadn’t, I’d be getting him home in a body bag.
“He feels like he’s in a palace now. He had Pommy vanilla ice cream the first night, ice cream with jelly and today Weet-Bix with real milk,” she said.
