GYMPIE Show chief wood chopping steward Len Summers was back into the full swing of real estate yesterday after the curtain on yet another bumper Gympie Show came down Sunday.

While Summers was unable to speak to The Gympie Times, the wood chopping at this year’s Show was one of the most successful and competitive in recent years.

The sport, rich in history, was on full display and produced some hotly contested battles.

All disciplines of wood chopping were featured, including standing, tree felling, peg and raker, butcher’s block and underhand.

Summers was the main responsible for overseeing all the wood chopping at this year’s show and ensured competition went ahead flawlessly.

As the cousin of the legendary Vic Summers, an Australian wood chopping hero, the sport flows in his veins.
