Woman survives serious car crash

A WOMAN and her dog were lucky to escape with their lives Thursday afternoon after the Toyota Hilux Dual Cab ute the woman was driving left the road, rolled and smashed into a tree.

The accident happened at 5pm on the Tin Can Bay Road over taking lanes just west of Goomboorian.

Gympie Fire and Rescue and Ambulance officers attended the accident scene to find the woman and a small white fluffy dog safely by the side of the road.

A trail of flattened long grass at the scene showed the ute had left the road before hitting a roadside drainage pit, the impact sent the vehicle rolling toward a huge gum tree.

It came to rest on its side against the tree.

Fire and Rescue officers said the driver was very lucky to escape the crash with only minor injuries.

They said the car was lucky not to crash head on into the large gum tree.

Gympie Police were still investigating the cause of the accident yesterday..
