Woman killed after car collides with power pole

A WOMAN has been killed after the car  she was a passenger in struck a power pole in Far North Queensland.

The crash occurred in Mourilyan, south of Innisfail about 8pm on Sunday night.

Police said the vehicle was travelling along Boogan Road when it left the roadway.

The passenger, a 59-year-old South Johnstone woman, was transported to the Innisfail Hospital and was pronounced deceased.

The male driver, a 22-year-old South Johnstone man, was also transported to hospital with minor injuries.

The Cairns Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
