Woman cut from wreck

AN ELDERLY woman, 81, was rushed to hospital after a two-vehicle crash on Horseshoe Bend about 11.50am.

She had to be cut from the wreck of her white Hyundai as the driver's side door was jammed.

Witnesses said they saw a white vehicle driving on Tucker St heading towards the Horseshoe Bend intersection before collided with a ute at the intersection.

The sedan then lost control and hit a fence before continuing 200m up the road towards Channon St.

Tucker St resident Tom McKewon said he was walking up the hill towards Horseshoe Bend when he heard the squeal of brakes.

He looked up just in time to see the crash.

"It was pretty scary, I had never seen a crash before," he said.

The woman's Hyundai was extensively damaged on its driver's side and the front of the Mitsubishi ute was damaged.

Fortunately the driver of the Mitsubishi was not injured.

Gympie police are investigating the cause of the crash.
