Woman charged over theft

A STOLEN Peugeot taken from a Nambour caryard was located in Gympie with the alleged thief at the wheel.

Police received a report from a Gympie resident about a car hooning in the area about 1am Saturday.

A Peugeot was seen driving off after crashing into Stolberg Plumbing Supplies on Mellor St and police located the damaged car nearby on Power St. A 20-year-old woman was allegedly still in the driver's seat and she was arrested and taken into custody.

She was charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, driving without due care and attention, driving unlicensed and driving an unregistered and uninsured vehicle.

The Sunshine Coast woman was given watchhouse bail and a notice to appear in court.
