Wine and dine your way around Brisbane this summer

IF THERE is one image synonymous with summer, it's a cold beer in one hand and something delicious in the other.

If that sounds about right to you, then Brisbane is where it's at.

In no particular order, here are nine of the hottest places to wine and dine this summer:

Alfresco restaurants

1.       Bavarian Bier Café: Grab one of the sunny outside tables and chow down a German hotdog or pretzel while sinking an ice-cold stein.

2.       Jellyfish: With eight to 14 species of fish on the menu each day, this is the seafood lover's heaven. Jellyfish took out the Best Seafood Restaurant in the 2013 National Savour Australia Restaurant and Catering Awards, and you'll understand why.

3.       Madame Wu: Moreton Bay Bug-stuffed dumplings… need we say more?

Girly lunch, feed with the boys or romantic dinner, Brisbane's got it all!

Rooftop bars

4.       Stock Exchange: Buying a drink has never been more fun. Here, the prices of drinks change as if they were the stock market. Get your favourite while it's at its cheapest!

5.       NEXT Pool Terrace: Level four of NEXT Hotel, off Queen St Mall, is a hidden gem amongst the hustle and bustle. Relax with an afternoon drink in a suave but peaceful atmosphere.

Sun-kissed bars

6.       Stephens Lane: Hidden down a laneway beside the Treasury Hotel, this trendy bar has great eats and even better cocktails.

7.       Riverbar: With a resort-vibe and prime waterfront location, Riverbar is a watering hole you want to try. If 'epic cocktail jugs' is speaking your language, then this is the place for you.

8.       Blackbird: This Great Gatsby-styled bar is a step back into roaring twenties, with almost 100 scotches and whiskey's to choose from. Stand on the terrace and watch the skyline turn to dusk.

9.       Red Hook: Head to Red Hook for hearty eats, a great vibe and drinks under the stars. If you want to savour every bite, pull up a chair on the Queen St side of the diner, or act like a true New Yorker and grab a burger or hot dog on the run. You can also take your burger love to the next level and try the Pickled Cheeseburger Martini - vodka, nolly prat, pickle brine, mustard and a bacon strip.
