Goomeri player Richard Rawlins is manager and team reserve. Each side has three players on the field in snow polo.

The Gilmore cousins and Rawlings all started their careers at the Downs club at Clifton. Last February, the trio beat New Zealand in beach polo at Cable Beach in Broome.

Will Gilmore, Kelvin Johnston and Downs player Matt Grimes won a two Test series in South Africa in October. They also played Thailand.

Their top form has been carried into the World Cup Snow Polo with wins against Italy and Brazil to qualify for a quarter finals last night against South Africa.

The players are riding horses on loan from the Chinese, from the Tianjin Goldin Metropolitan Polo Club. Most of the horses were bought in Australia and New Zealand in the past two years.

Will and Glen Gilmore are third-generation players.

Their grandfather Jack Gilmore played for Queensland as did their fathers Derek and Stuart.
