Wildcats on top as unbeaten run start continues

AFTER starting round six with a 75-68 win against Cairns at home on Thursday night, Perth finished the weekend still unbeaten after downing the Hawks 89-76 in Wollongong yesterday.

Imports Jermaine Beal (24pts) and James Ennis (pictured) (21) starred for the Wildcats who led by just three points at the final change.

Centre Matt Knight got the ball rolling in the fourth quarter with consecutive baskets before skipper Shawn Redhage connected on a succession of clutch off-balance shots down the stretch to bury the Hawks.

Beal was again devastating from long-range, connecting on six three-pointers while import Rotnei Clarke was impressive for the home side, finishing with 20 points.

The two wins took Perth to 8-0 for the season while the Hawks are last on 1-6.

RESULTS: Perth 75 b Cairns 68; Adelaide 95 v NZ Breakers 94; Kings 88 b Townsville 67; Melbourne 89 b Cairns 85; Perth 89 b Wollongong 76.
