Competitors from around QLD travel to Widgee's sporting day

WIDGEE and District Pony Club hosted its first Open Sporting Day on Sunday, March 29 with competitors travelling from as far away as Burpengary, Maroochy and Mooloolah.

The action was fast-paced with riders sprinting to the finish line in an attempt to take out the prize money and ribbons up for grabs.

Members will take to the saddle again tomorrow to pay homage to the late Fabian Webb, as they participate in the Great Kilkivan Horse Ride.

Fabian not only began the Great Kilkivan ride, but was also a founding member of the Widgee and District Pony Club and had served as club patron for many years. Following on will be a three day Widgee Pony Club School Holiday Camp at their grounds in Upper Widgee Road.

The School will run from Monday, April 13 to Wednesday, April 15 with instruction by Peter Drummond. Training will include jumping, flat work, trail riding, mounted games, certificate work, sporting games and more.

Members and participants are welcome to camp from Sunday afternoon to be up and ready for the 7:00am start on Monday.

Limited places are available and great value at only $90 per rider.
