Gympie Horse and Rodeo Association

GYMPIE Horse and Rodeo Association is holding its fourth round of the 2016 Buckle Series this weekend at the Jane St grounds. The weekend starts tomorrow night with Cutting Practice from 6pm.

Saturday's events will kick off at 8am with Beginner Team Penning. This will then be followed by Junior Beginners, then Juniors. In the afternoon there will be a local barrel race followed by Team Sorting. Sunday is the Open Team Penning division from 8am. Admission is free and a canteen will run over the weekend.

"We'd like to encourage those who have thought about giving this a go to come down and see how this sport is run,” a spokesman said.

Gympie Queens Tennis Club

THANK you to everyone who supported the Col Arnell Memorial Day on Sunday.

A fun tennis day was had by 30 players, including members of the Arnell family. The eventual winners of the American tournament were Steve Banney and Ros Evans.

Come and join the fun at social tennis on Thursday and Monday nights, from 6pm at the Queens Park Tennis Centre at the corner of Jane St and the Bruce Hwy. There will be social tennis this Saturday at 7am and 1pm. New players with any skill levels are welcome.

LAST Tuesday's competition winner was Tony Hayward and runner up was Glen Lamperd.

Saturday's Inspirationpaints two person ambrose Come and Try day saw a great field of 48 people all having a very enjoyable day. The winning team was John Mckenzie and John Gate with an even par round of 54, the remaining place getters were a card draw and second was Shannon Pettit and T. McNamara, third was Nev Joy and Bill Christensen, fourth was Troy Carlson and Joelene Slott, fifth was Dean Mc Millan and Jeanie Price, sixth was Nev Cavell and Terry Smith, seventh Phyllis Kennedy and David Conlan, eighth was John Christensen and Petra Collins ninth was Neil Cassidy and Jonnothan Vale, tenth was Neil Brampton and Glen Richardson. 11th was Barb White and Phil Sweet, 12th was Steve Grant and Bill Nolan, 13th was Martin Kennedy and G. Burgess.
