Wet weather causes havoc on roads

DRIZZLING rain on Gympie region roads played havoc with driving conditions yesterday keeping firefighters, police and ambulance crews busy.

At Whites Bridge along Tin Can Bay Road just after midday Gympie’s emergency service workers were called to a crash that blocked traffic in both directions for about half-an-hour.

Police have issued one driver with a ticket for failing to give way after a Mazda crashed into the back of a Holden Commodore.

One person was taken to Gympie Hospital.

Earlier about 11.30pm a motor bike rider came off his bike along the Mary Valley Highway.

He was taken to Gympie hospital with minor injuries.

About 10am two cars were towed after colliding with each other on the corner of Pine and Clematis streets. Police are investigating.
