Wet course no test for golfers

DESPITE the Gympie Pines course playing longer due to the recent heavy rain, several members managed to overcome the heavy conditions to record some excellent scores in last Saturday’s monthly medal single stroke competition.

Doug Westlake won the A Grade competition after completing his round with an excellent nett 66 while veteran Elling Vold won B Division with a nett 65.

Zac Dullard continued his good form carding 66 to take the A Grade runner up. Andrew Mallett was the B Division runner up with 68.

Ball rundown to 70: Mike Wynn, Don Griggs, Gavin Jensen, Col Smith, Don Cappetti, Jye Robinson, Jon Love, Greg Gallagher, Liam Watson, Noel Turvey.

NTP: Greg Gallagher hole 9,

Gavin Jensen hole 16.

Next Saturday will feature a single stroke competition while on Sunday there will be a 4BBB Stableford with a midday shotgun start.

All members are reminded that there will be a General Meeting on Sunday, January 24 to discuss various options to ensure the club’s future.

Gympie Pines Club Captain, Gavin Jensen, is urging all members to attend and, most importantly, contribute their all-important ideas and suggestions.

“I can’t place too much stress on the importance of this meeting. It’s vital that we get a very strong turnout of members,” he said.
