Webcke to speak on safety at Tafe

SHANE Webcke, footballer and sports presenter, will be one of the guest speakers at a free public information session in support of Safe Work Month at the Gympie Campus of Tafe Queensland East Coast on Thursday.

Sharing his personal story about his father's workplace death, Shane will be speaking about the importance of creating a safe workplace and strong safety culture.

He will be joined by safety advocate, Bill Martin, who tragically lost his 17-year-old son after an electrical shock. Mr Martin will tell about the impact it had on him and his family.

Other speakers will include Brian Bennett, CEO of Laminex Industries, Carey Fuller, Community Health and Safety Advisor for Energex and a spokeman for Workplace Health and Safety Queensland and Gympie Tafe.

The information session is part of the national initiative to promote the safe work message from Workplace Health and Safety Queensland, and one of several different events to be held over October as part of the Safe Work Month.

The seminar will start at 9am and will feature a free barbecue lunch at the conclusion at 12.30pm.
