Dark clouds gather over Gympie

DARK clouds gathering over Gympie today were not as menacing as Tuesday's.

The Bureau of Meteorology had forcasted rain and storms.

But severe weather warnings were resreved for people in the Channel Country, Maranoa and Warrego and Darling Downs and Granite Belt districts.

There damaging winds and large hailstones were expected.

Tuesday's storm left 22 people in the Gympie District still without power this morning.

In total 5700 customers had lost power in the Gympie and Mary Valley areas in that storm.

Cooroy felt the brunt of the deluge with wind bringing down powerlines and ripping out trees, luckily no one was seriously injured.
