Get your Anzac Day souvenir book in the Gympie Times

AS AUSTRALIA prepares to commemorate 100 years since the Anzacs landed at Gallipoli in 1915, The Gympie Times will mark the milestone with a special souvenir book.

The 32-page publication, called Anzac: We will remember them, will come free in your newspaper on Tuesday, April 21.

The book relives the build-up to the Gallipoli campaign, examines what went wrong with the landings and the subsequent offensives, and summarises what happened to the Anzacs who made it to see the rest of the war on the Western Front.

But it celebrates the heroes too, including some forgotten ones - the Victoria Cross recipients, the women who served in the best way they could either through nursing or on the home front, and the indigenous soldiers who felt equality for the first time while in uniform, only to have it ripped away when they returned home.

If you feel you need to brush up on your war history, make sure you get your copy of ANZAC: We will remember them, only in your Gympie Times.

And don't forget to follow our rolling online coverage of the Gallipoli Dawn Service on April 25 and follow @APNNewsdesk on Twitter for live tweets.
