Choir shares message of hope

THE children of the Watoto Children’s Choir from Uganda are once again visiting Gympie.

As part of the 2010 Australian tour, the choir will be performing its Concert of Hope tonight at the Christian Family Church, at 38 Fritz Road in Chatsworth.

The Concert of Hope aims to raise awareness and enlist support for the plight of the orphans in Uganda.

The 22 children aged between eight and 14 have been left parentless by war, disease and abandonment.

They are ambassadors for the Watoto Childcare Villages in Uganda, Africa and use their songs, colourful dancing, African beats and amazing personal stories to offer audiences a hope that proves one certainly can rise above their circumstances.

On this visit to Australia the choir has already performed this month in front of capacity crowds at Easterfest in Toowoomba.

Tonight’s Concert of Hope starts at 7pm.

Admission is free, although an opportunity will be given at the concert to support the work of Watoto through donations, sponsorships and goods for sale including CDs and clothing.
