WATCH: Two planes catch on fire in the U.S

TWO planes have burst into flames in separate incidents just hours apart in the United States.

An American Airlines plane caught on fire when one engine failed as the plane was taking off.

The crew deployed the emergency evacuation slides and got the 161 passengers to safety, CNN reported.

Several people were taken to hospital with minor injuries caused by the slides.

Photos shared on social media showing passengers walking away from the burning plane to sit on a runway at Chicago's O'Hare airport.

In a later incident, a delivery plane for FedEx caught on fire in Florida.

U.S media reported the plane's landing gear collapsed after the plane landed at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport.

No injuries were reported and the fire was put out within minutes.
