TRUE heroes are often left unsung.

And that's the way many of them like it.

A hero is "a person of distinguished courage or performance, especially one who risks injury or death for the sake of others".

Gympie man Scott Hammond is just such a person.

His rescue of a woman from her burning four-wheel drive earlier this year is not the first time he has stepped up in a crisis.

The Gympie Times has approached Scott for interviews before on his courageous deeds, but he politely declines.

Though he is up against some impressive competition to win the People's Choice Queensland Pride of Australia Medal for his bravery, we can all help make it happen.

You can vote by going to the website

prideofaustralia.com.au or couriermail.com.au/pride

ofaustralia to vote for Scott. We only have a few days so please, let's get behind Scott.
