Finals about to near end
GYMPIE Volleyball competition concludes tonight with a thrilling A grade final between Tin Can Bay and Woodies.
Players hit the court to battle for season ending honours at 6.30pm.
Season presentations for all grades will follow the blockbuster final. Both players and their families will be joining the celebrations.
Last week, the finals of all remaining grades were played with the following results:
Drop Bears played KAOS in the woman's final to begin the evening. The game was taken to a fourth set with Drop Bears defeating KAOS 3-1. The game was tightly fought with long rallies and crowd participation.
The C grade game played between Staminadors and CYA was won in three sets by Staminadors.
CYA pocket of crowd support provided a good atmosphere and the players enjoyed their first appearance in a final. The experience will be invaluable.
Beez played SWAT Team in the C grade final last Thursday night. The game was won by Beez in four sets, with SWAT Team taking the first set. Both teams played a physical game close to the net. Some smart sets and ability to read the play for the Beez kept them in the lead for the next three sets.
All teams to reach the finals were congratulated for their efforts.
Players volunteering half-an-hour of their time during the presentation ceremony were thanked for their generosity.
Sign on is also underway for next season for both the open and the women's competition, beginning after the June/July school holidays.
New teams and existing teams are asked to nominate their teams for next season with the committee tonight.
