Stolen vehicle in Bruce Highway crash

EMERGENCY services are rushing to the scene of a reported crash on the Bruce Highway.

Multiple people are believed to be entrapped after the crash about 1km north of the Frosty Mango.

Paramedics from Townsville are heading to the scene as are police, firefighters and traffic control managers.

Motorists are urged to avoid the area if possible.

The crash was reported about 6am today.

The Bulletin understands three vehicles were involved in the incident.

One of the vehicles rolled and the occupants of that vehicle are believed to have entered another vehicle, which has since left the scene and police are actively searching for that car.

A third vehicle, containing elderly people, remains at the scene.

The highway is closed in both directions.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services crews have freed two people from a vehicle and the victims are being treated by paramedics. They are working to free a third person.

A rescue helicopter is being sent to the scene.

The stolen vehicle was last seen heading towards Townsville at a 'very high speed'.
