University the next victim in the Mariners' sights

FRASER Coast Mariners aren't going to University of Sunshine Coast to study.

A slightly lighter but faster Mariners outfit will visit Uni today with a plan to beat the lowly home side and secure another bonus point.

USC are second-last and boast a woeful points differential of -139, but Mariners coach Trent Devere said his side won't take lightly.

"You never know what or who you'll come up against,” Devere said. "You can look at all of that but you have to treat them as a good side.”

The Mariners will be without several forwards like Luke Wolter and Jared Scott, but the backline will be boosted by speed.

"The scrum has been one of our strengths over the years but the rest of the forwards have to step up.”
