Teachers union turning up the heat
THE State Government's controversial new school audits have prompted an outcry from teachers.
The teachers say the "audits" are nothing of the kind.
They say the obvious use of the "audit" results as a comparison between schools can only mislead parents.
The audit results are based in part on teachers' own assessments of how they are performing, so that a teacher with a healthy sense of self-doubt looks worse than someone more confident.
Some teachers, however, say the audits are working well.
And these teachers say they are happy with the publicity.
