Man tried to pick up youth for sex

A GYMPIE man in his 60s has been charged for allegedly trying to obtain a young person for sex.

He appeared in Gympie Magistrates Court this week and did not enter a plea to a charge of attempting to procure a young person for carnal knowledge.

His lawyer Matthew Post asked that the matter be adjourned for a committal mention and was granted one month.

The man, 67, was granted bail on strict conditions that he is to not go anywhere near the complainant's home or place of work.

The matter was set down for a mention in the Gympie court on September 27.
