Trial begins for Mary Valley man accused of drug trafficking

A MONTH-long trial is expected for an alleged drug dealer based out of the Mary Valley.

Craig Cant has pleaded not guilty in Brisbane Supreme Court to trafficking methylamphetamine, eight counts of supplying meth and two counts of producing cannabis.

The offences are alleged to have taken place in Brisbane as well as a property at Tansey - west of Gympie.

Justice Ann Lyons swore in the jury, including two reserve jurors, yesterday

The trial is expected to take between four and six weeks.

After the jurors were sworn in they were dismissed for the day. The trial's opening statements are expected to start today.
