Training lags among older workers

LESS than half of all workers older than 50 have completed training or education to boost their work skills in the past three years, a new survey shows.

The survey by the Productive Ageing Centre for Nationals Seniors asked 1900 people aged 50 or older about their training.

Of the 40% who had completed training, 59% believed their skills were up to date.

National Seniors chief Michael O'Neill said older workers needed to keep their skills current, especially in operating digital technology.
