Rattler back on track
MARY Valley Heritage Railway manager Jim Walker has announced the Rattler will be back on track this weekend.
He said the steam train tours had resumed full operations through to Imbil after a period of shorter tours.
The heritage railway was forced to upgrade the track after a minor derailment at the Old Gympie Railway Station yards.
The C17 engine came off the track after loading with coal, on the way back to the main line.
"This is good news for the Rattler and particularly for business at the southern end of the track," Mr Walker said. "During the last few weeks, Imbil businesses have been very concerned to see the return of the tourist trains to their town and we are very happy to oblige.
"We also expect to welcome the steam engine back after a brief maintenance period."
Mr Walker said the passengers were happy to have a full-length trip back.
"Our best advertising is word of mouth, so tell your friends that the Rattler is back running to Imbil."
The Valley Rattler operates each Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday from Gympie on a 40km track, with an antique railmotor on Tuesdays.
