Trail ride a top action weekend
VANESSA Hatchman was still trying to get some sleep yesterday after noon after a successful Kia Ora trail ride.
This year was the tenth event and although not a record, the day was very successful.
Perfect weather greeted the 550 plus riders who travelled to Kia Ora for the event.
Hatchman said the camp grounds were over flowing and organisers had to set up extra space.
She thanked the landholders who opened up their picturesque properties for the ride.
She said everyone loved the four trails and commented on how lovely the scenery was.
"There was something for everyone," Hatchman said.
There was some pretty wet sections with a fair bit of mud, rocky sections with logs, open sections and tight sections.
"It was a great weekend, an incident-free weekend."
She said people came as from as far away as Emerald and Gladstone for the ride.
"We had lots of young kids coming through and lots of female riders," Hatchman said.
"It was good to see.
"It wasn't our biggest ever, but it was pretty close."
Hatchman said they were still tallying how much money was raised for the Kia Ora State School.
"It looks like we mad a good profit."
She thanked all the volunteers who worked so hard over the weekend. "I would really like to thank Toby, Jason, Jack, Fatty, David, Shane and Anthony.
"They are all the track markers and did a great job.
"It was hugely successful.
"Everyone you see had smiles on their faces."
Hatchman is now getting ready for next years event after she gets some sleep.
