Topless woman attacks Le Pen
FRENCH right-wing leader Marine Le Pen has been attacked by a topless woman with a bunch of flowers during a campaign rally in Paris, as police battled with protesters outside.
After the female protester was dragged from the stage, Ms Le Pen told the crowd of 5000 in the Zenith hall in north-east Paris: "These left- wing extremists have got it all wrong. A total inversion of values has disrupted this speech by the only woman who defends women.”
The National Front leader promised to tighten borders and crack down on immigra- tion if elected president.
"Behind mass immigration, there is terrorism,” she said.
Outside, masked demonstrators dressed in black hurled rocks, wood and smoke bombs at riot police standing between them and the venue.
Police responded with tear gas.
Earlier, as hundreds of protesters marched towards the venue, some demonstrators threw firebombs, again inspiring a tear gas response from police.
