Top Mason returns to home turf

QUEENSLAND'S highest ranking Freemason, Adrian Burton, will be back on home turf next Thursday when he attends a special dinner meeting of Braemar Lodge No. 089 being held as part of the Gympie State High School centenary celebrations.

The evening holds particular significance for Mr Burton who, as a past student of the school, has fond memories of his time there, and of his early years living in the area.

The lodge will open at 7pm for a brief meeting with a celebratory dinner following at 7.30.

As Braemar lodges' roots are Scottish, haggis will be on the menu.

Freemasons, past students, teachers and any interested members of the public are most welcome. Cost of the dinner is $20 per person.

There will be numerous guest speakers who will reminisce on days gone by at Gympie High. Current principal Murray Wegner is a member of Braemar Lodge.

Mr Burton has donated a piece of Royal Doulton crystal for a lucky door prize.
