Sensei Noel Turner a world force

WITH 37 years of training under his blackbelt, Gympie Karate Academy Sensei Noel Turner is now a world force in the sport.

Sensei Turner has just returned home from a trip to the United States of America, where he attended the International Gasshuku Training Seminar.

The seminar was a global event, attracting instructors from countries including Mexico, Bahamas, Texas, Russia, England and South Africa – naming just a few.

The elite training held covered advanced kata, weaponry and black belt gradings.

To his complete astonishment, Sensei Turner was left speechless when he was appointed by highly respected Sensei Yamazaki to the Board of Directors of Japan Karate – Do Ryobu Kai International.

Gympie Karate Club spokesperson Leanne Wade said the gravity of the achievement was immense.

“This is one of the greatest honours to receive in the martial art world,” she said.

“Sensei Noel Turner will be in charge of the Oceania group, including Australia, Tasmania, New Zealand, Islands of the Pacific Ocean and adjacent seas.”

Wade said Sensei Turner’s extensive experience was of invaluable value to the Gympie region.

“Our small town of Gympie is now known on the international circuit regarding martial arts,” she said.

“Sensei Noel Turner is taking the world by storm.”
