POLICE are appealing for the public to report any family or friends who could be missing after tests found human remains discovered in Tin Can Bay are not related to a human torso found in Cedar Pocket.

Detective Inspector Bruce McNab said police had already received a large amount of information regarding both incidents.

He said the discovery of the torso last year was still being treated as suspicious and officers were keeping an open mind about skull and bones found near Tin Can Bay in April.

He said officers were following up a number of inquiries in relation to both finds.
