Dad allegedly bashed woman before killing son

POLICE investigating the horrific deaths of a man and his four-year-old son in an apparent murder suicide have called for public help as they probe the lead up to the tragedy.

The bodies of Troy Harvey, 45, and son Koah, 4, were found at a River Rd property in Rossville, south of Cooktown, on Friday morning.

Police have revealed they were contacted by a 36-year-old woman earlier that day to report she had been assaulted by Mr Harvey on Thursday night.

Mr Harvey took to social media several weeks ago, saying he suffered a "nervous mental breakdown" brought on by long term alcohol and drug use.

Two crime scenes were established at the property and another local residence and both were examined as part of investigations which involved multiple detectives, scenes of crime and scientific officers.

"Investigators are piecing together a timeline of events and are seeking public assistance to fully understand the circumstances leading up to the deaths," a police spokesman said.

Detective Inspector Jason Smith said investigators are seeking the assistance of anyone who may have had contact with Troy Harvey between August 28 and September 4.

"In particular police wish to speak to the driver of a silver vehicle that attended Mr Harvey's address in River Road on the morning of Friday, September 4, 2020," Detective Inspector Smith said.

"People in Rossville have been devastated by these tragic events, I would personally like to thank them for the enormous amount of assistance they have provided to police."

The body of Koah, 4, was found at his Rossville home.

Investigations are continuing.

Koah's heartbroken mum Natsuko Kurihara posted an emotional tribute to Facebook on Saturday, asking him to forgive her, saying, "I'm so sorry I couldn't save you".

"I'm in pain life is not fair.

"Let the people you love know you love them as they can be taken from you.

"I'm so sorry Koah l couldn't save you. Love you forever."
