Atkin taking on Victorian Title

GYMPIE production sedan driver Tim Atkin is hoping to seize victory today when he races in the prestigious Victorian Production Sedan Titles..

After travelling more than 1800km to Alexandra, Victoria, the local driver is a favourite in tonight's thundering race.

Claiming the Queensland title last month and shattering the lap record at Gympie's own Mothar Mountain track, Atkin will drive with confidence.

More than 21 drivers are expected to roar their engines in the event with Atkin keen to get out there.

After winning three Queensland street sedan titles, Atkin said he had only recently moved to production sedans.

"I really wanted a change from street sedans and with production starting to get big, I tried my luck," he said.

"Street sedans are very limited so moving into production lets me adjust my car and modify it giving me more options."

The local driver said although he was confident, he would take to the track with caution today because it was his first time racing in Victoria.

"It will be my first time to race in the champs so I will be up against people I have never seen before," he said.

"All I can do is give my all and see what happens."
