Severe storms causing damage

UPDATE 3.51pm: QUEENSLAND Ambulance say they have had one report of a lightning strike but so far no patients have been taken to hospital.

"We're still trying to get information through," a spokeswoman said.

Currently firefighters and SES crews are working in the Cooroy and Black Mountain area.

There are reports of trees down and lightning strikes in these areas, as well as loud thunder and some roofs being blown off.

BREAKING 3.30pm: A SEVERE thunderstorm is believed to have brought powerlines down at Bruce Hwy and Mary River Rd in Cooroy.

Police say cars are continuing to drive underneath.

Reports have come in that four people have been struck by lightning in the Cooroy area.
