Three have lucky escape on Gunalda Range

Lucky Escape

THREE men in their early 20s were lucky to escape injury when their tray back ute turned on to its side before righting itself on the Gunalda Range 2pm yesterday.

The incident happened a little after 2pm.

Gympie ambulance officer-in-charge, Wayne Sachs said this is the fourth incident he has been called to in that exact spot in the past six to eight month period.

He also said there appeared to be another incident yesterday morning at the same spot, but he had not been called to attend.

Mr Sachs said the area, just at the top of the Gunalda Range when the road sweeps left before descending the range, was a notoriously slippery spot after rain.

With the prediction of heavy rainfall this weekend, Mr Sachs said he hopes drivers will drive to the conditions and use caution in the wet.
