They're definitely biting around Cooloola

GOTCHA: On the offshore scene, reports have been quiet this week with the strong winds and large seas, with conditions improving during today and into tomorrow.

The winds will be south- easterly at 15-20 knots, with seas at 1-1.5m, decreasing to 1m around midday.

Saturday's winds will be south easterly at 10-15 knots turning southerly during the morning, with seas around 1m, increasing to 1-1.5m during the evening.

Local reports on the inshore reefs at Hervey Bay and Fraser Island include snapper, coral trout, blackall, mackerel and tuna.

Around Woddy Island area there have been bonito tuna, mackerel, trevally and queenfish.

There have been school mackerel, and snapper from the Burrum 8 mile, and pearl perch, tusk fish, sweetlip, snapper, cobia and scarlet sea perch wide off Double Island Point.

Grass sweetlip, spotty mackerel and big cobia can be found on Halls Reef with mulloway and cod on Sunshine Reef.

Tusk fish, grassy sweetlip and snapper at Caloundra 9 and 12 Mile.

Snapper, pearl perch, tusk fish and moses perch from north reef.

Coral trout, sweetlip and snapper have been caught at the Gneerings with tuskfish, snapper and pearl perch from the Mooloolaba 8 mile.

The estuaries, local dams and beaches have been firing.

Fraser Island has seen dart, whiting and bream and a few tailor along the surf gutters.

In Hervey Bay there are reports of bonito, tuna, mackerel, bream and trevally off Urangan Jetty.

There is queenfish, blue and threadfin salmon, trevally and jew in the Mary and Susan rivers.

The banana prawns have been running in the straights both in the Woodgate and Mary Rivers.

At Rainbow Beach there is tailor, trevally and snapper off the rock at Double Island Point.

There is also tailor, flathead and tuna from the beach at Inskip Point which is keeping the winter anglers happy.

Down in Noosa, trevally, tailor and queenfish in Woods Bay while there is bream, big flathead, trevally and tailor at the Noosa river mouth. Bream, flathead and grunter bream along the Tewantin Reach. Bream, flathead, estuary cod and moses perch in Weyba Creek.

Maroochydore has seen tailor and flathead from the river mouth, golden trevally, cale cale and giant trevally, tailor, giant herring, jew and flathead in the middle river on lures from Bli Bli. There is also tailor, bream and flathead from Petrie Creek.

A few solid mud crabs can be found in the deeper holes of the middle and lower river with sand crabs in the southern channel.

Mooloolaba has been busy with plenty of good garfish caught in the lower river as well as whiting and a few better bream on incoming tide around moorings, pontoons and bridges.

Several catches of good trevally, flathead and bream can be had along the rock walls at the river mouth.

Still a few late season mud crabs throughout river and canals.

In Caloundra there is bream, flathead and trevally from the boardwalk.

Flathead and bream from Military Jetty are on the bite, with whiting and bream along Golden Beach.

Reports of big bream, trevally and tailor have filtered through from Pelican Waters with jew and tailor in the deeper holes of the northern passage overnight.
