Local lads hit it big in Sydney

THIS year has already been big for Gympie rock band The Secret Whisper.

The band is on an Australian tour to promote the debut album le Jeune Amour and will finish up in Brisbane on February 24.

Hailed a success so far, the accolades keep coming for these five childhood friends - Jess Mincher on vocals and keys, Tom Rooney on guitar and vocals, Joel Forman on drums, Billy Stewart on lead guitar and brother Billy on bass. When they landed in Sydney for a gig at Annandale Hotel, the five-piece was greeted with the news that their first single, Remember When, had been added to the B105 radio playlist and 42 other commercial stations around Australia.

The album has also been added to Radar Radio (Southern Cross Today network 2DAY/FOX/MMM) and, the film clip for Remember When has been played on Rage and Channel V.

They released their self-produced debut EP Le Jeune Amour in May last year and while in Sydney they have been meeting with studios to record new singles.

Catch The Secret Whisper performing live at The Zoo in Brisbane's Fortitude Valley on February 24.
