Who made the NRL team of the week?

THE Cowboys may have run in eight tries against the hapless Eels, but second-rower Ethan Lowe got the sausages for butchering an absolute certainty. With winger Matthew Wright unmarked on his outside, Lowe decided he wanted to get on the scoreboard himself late in the second half, but was caught just short of the line when trying to beat three defenders.

MELBOURNE'S decision to take its home game against the Dragons to Napier paid off in almost every respect. Not only did the Storm come away with a 22-4 win, a healthy crowd of 14,532 turned up, comparable to the 15,812 at the Warriors v Manly game in Auckland. Many of those in Napier showed their appreciation with a haka after the game, which was reciprocated by Melbourne's Kiwi connection of Mahe Fonua, Kenny Bronwich, Tohu Harris and Nelson Asofa-Solomona.

NEVER let ambition get in the way of capability. Rabbitohs halfback Adam Reynolds certainly didn't against the Knights. With his team up by almost 50 late in the game against Newcastle, Reynolds attempted a field goal from inside his own half. Loved his confidence, but not surprisingly it fell well short.

GLASS half full? Eels coach Brad Arthur wins the quote of the week award for this comment after the 46-4 hammering from the Cowboys. "I didn't think we were that bad," he said. Newcastle officials certainly thought their team's 52-6 thrashing from Souths was bad enough to sack the coach.
