Thanks a million to our volunteers

MORE than one hundred volunteers from 70 local organisations received recognition for their valuable service at the National Volunteers acknowledge ceremony at the Gympie Civic Centre yesterday.

Member for Gympie David Gibson acknowledged the value that each volunteer brings to the community.

Nationally 4.6 million volunteers work for not for profit organisations saving about $14.6 billion.

One volunteer, Shirley Eyre, was nominated by three organisations for her varied roles at Red Cross Gympie, VIEW Club and the Jessie Witham Centre.

Shirley Knight was also recognised for 25 years service to students at the Gympie West State School.
