Teens to front court after allegedly ramming into cop

A GROUP of teens allegedly rammed a police constable in a stolen car on the Gold Coast in the early hours of Easter Monday.

The officer approached the "suspicious vehicle" on Dreamworld Parkway at Coomera about 1.15am.

"It is alleged the driver accelerated towards him, hitting his left leg and damaging the front passenger door of the police car," a police media release said.

The four teens inside the vehicle, allegedly stolen from Loganlea on March 26, were intercepted shortly after using a tyre deflation device.

The officer was not physically injured.

One of the teens, a Waterford West 17-year-old, has been charged with attempted murder, seriously assaulting police, obstructing police, burglary, failing to stop, stealing and dangerous driving.

Another 17-year-old from the same southern Brisbane suburb was also charged with dangerous driving, stealing a car and failing to stop.

They will front the Southport Magistrates Court while two 15-year-old Browns Plains girls will be dealt with under the Youth Justice Act for their involvement.
