Tasha holds ticket to her dream modelling career

A DREAM career in international swimwear modelling is one step closer for Tasha Dunlop.

The Buderim beauty secured a wildcard entry into the Australian Swimwear Model of the Year national finals after being second runner-up at the regional finals in Rockhampton earlier this year.

The 23-year-old was handed the golden ticket to represent the Sunshine Coast, which did not hold a local heat.

Known in the competitive modelling circuit as Tasha D, Ms Dunlop has entered 27 pageants in the past two years.

While she has made it to the preliminary rounds of Miss Galaxy, Miss Universe and Miss Indy and the state final of Miss World, Ms Dunlop said the upcoming Swimwear Model of the Year competition was a personal highlight.

"My goal is to become an international swimwear model and to place at the national finals would be a big step for me," she said.

With 12 finalists to be chosen to appear in the pageant's famous calendar, the chance of gaining exposure overseas is closer than ever.

Ms Dunlop, who works at Sunburn in Mooloolaba and designs her own swimwear in her spare time, said she would channel her nerves into a stellar performance in the lead-up to the crowning on the Gold Coast on May 17.
