Talent shines on stage

HOMEGROWN country music talent Stephanie Ward-Wrigley has another four trophies to add to her collection.

At the weekend's Bundaberg Easter round-up she won the junior gospel and junior bush ballad sections, came second in the junior country rock section and competed in the junior solo.

For her efforts, Stephanie was presented with a major prize and the overall junior performer title.

But she is no stranger to the stage.

Last year she entered the same competition and made her Gympie Music Muster debut as the youngest solo artist to grace the main stage at 13 years old.

In the same year, she won the junior talent section at Tamworth and performed the national anthem at the Gympie Show.

A year on and with a whole lot more confidence, the talented performer has gone from strength to strength.

"I don't get nervous," she said.

"It's just a few more (trophies) to add to the collection."

But she admitted that she did not expect to win.

Next up for the rising star is the Urban Country Music Festival (May 4-7) where she has a guest performer spot after winning the junior competition last year.

Stephanie is already preparing for the Muster in August and has qualified for the Queensland Champion of Champions competition in Brisbane later this year.

She performs originals and covers.

Her country music idols include Taylor Swift, Carrie Underwood and Lee Kernighan.

At the Easter competition she won with one of Kernighan's bush ballads, Three Chain Road.
