Take the Rattler to Imbil

I THINK former Mary Valley Heritage Railway manager Ted Mitchell hit the nail on the head today when he predicted the historic railway would die if it didn't eventually get back to travelling to Imbil.

I understand the railway needs a lot of money and a lot of help from volunteers and the public to get it operational again.

Currently the new management has about $2 million, courtesy of the Newman State Government, to get it back on track. That will only be enough cash to get the train going to Amamoor or maybe even Dagun.

Don't get me wrong; Amamoor and Dagun are great little communities but they don't have the infrastructure to hold tourists for any length of time. Imbil on the other hand already has a pub and multiple shops perfect for a lunch-time stop over. Somehow we have to get the train back to Imbil.
